CARRERA 6000 PREVENTS ‘FREEZER BURN’ IN BURGERS

ILAPAK has worked with a local partner to supply its Carrera 6000 as part of an integrated ‘freezer to flow wrapper’ solution that operates at speeds of up to 300 ppm. The flow wrapper has the capability to produce HDPE dual chamber bags with a partial cut or perforation down the middle, so that consumers can eat one burger and freeze the other, without the product suffering from freezer burn.

“This dual chamber format is becoming increasingly popular in South America and our Carrera 6000 makes it very easy to effect without any mechanical changeovers or intervention – the operator simply selects the programme via the touchscreen and the machine will automatically configure the cutting system to create the perforations,” explains Massimo Furlato, Carrera Product Manager at ILAPAK.

The Carrera 6000 is a fully modular design flow wrapper that offers complete IP65 protection, enabling full wash down capability, even of the sealing elements. This ultra-hygienic design has been achieved through full stainless steel execution, isolating the electrical cabinet from the main machine frame and smooth, angled surfaces without recesses.

The Carrera 6000 is ILAPAK’s high speed solution for packing IQF protein products, such as burgers, patties and frozen minced meat, with or without supporting trays, at speeds of 300-350 ppm.

For mid-range operations (in the region of 130-150 ppm), ILAPAK recommends its Carrera 1000 flow wrapper, which offers the same build quality, use of servo motors and PLC control platform as the 6000, but offers fewer features.

For automated workflows, ILAPAK can supply its flow wrappers with a variety of feeding systems, including gravity magazine feeders for stacking burgers and multi-belt systems for high speed lines.
